Dear Golfer,

Seasons come and go. Here in the Northeast, Fall is making way for Winter. Many of you retire your golf game until spring; some of you will head south to continue. The “offseason” will be busy for me as I continue to train, deepen my coaching capabilities, and learn the most advanced techniques to better prepare me to help you excel on the fairway to golf excellence.

I hope over the last 25 weeks, you have learned something or improved an aspect of your game through the tips, pointers and other information we shared in the weekly newsletter – we are going to take a brief hiatus and return even better in the spring. It’s been a true pleasure to have provided thousands of hours of instruction to countless golfers of all ages. Here at Dave Mahoney Golf, we take your golf game seriously. Thank you for a great 2015 season and we look forward to an even better 2016.

I look forward to working with you in the future!

All the best,

Dave Mahoney

Plan Now! Make 2016 YOUR BEST Yet!

Well before the 2015 Major Championship season began, PGA Tour Player of the Year, Jordan Spieth put together a plan to give himself the best chance to make the cut at all four majors. A feat he hadn’t yet achieved. Assessing his strengths and improving upon his weaknesses helped Jordan to not only make all four cuts, but win two majors while finishing no worse than fourth in the other two.

At the end of any professional golfer’s season, the best players in the world assess their game so they can come back the following season even better. What about you? Do you tend to stay at the same level of performance each year, or are you looking to lay the ground work for an even better 2016?

Here are a few quick tips to help you prepare for 2016 like a pro:

Creat an End of Season Golf Assessment
First, break your game into a few different categories. Then take note of what you would like to repeat, and what you could improve upon in 2016. Get as detailed as you would like.

Here are some examples of the topics you can consider taking a look at:

Golf Swing and Short Game
If you were satisfied in either area take note of what you did that contributed to your success. On the other hand, if you need to improve in either area, what is your new plan going to look like going forward?

Golf Fitness
Were you injury free? Did your fitness enhance your golf game, or did it compromise your performance? Would any changes in this area make next season more rewarding?

Mental Approach
Every action you take on or off the course starts in your mind. That is why this assessment is so important. Your mental approach encompasses all that you do on and off the course to help you to be your best. For example, assess your motivation level, on the course performance, goal setting, focus, and daily commitment. Collectively, these are areas of your mental fitness that you should evaluate and work on accordingly.

Benefits:
The greatest seasons in golf history all started with a vision that was broken down into small day to day goals.  Using an End of the Season Assessment will give YOU the tools to better understand what brings out your best performances while also helping to fill the gaps in areas you could potentially improve upon. Assess your game, then set your mind towards a new game plan and make 2016 your best season yet!!!
